Week 4: Reflection

It is honestly so crazy that four weeks have gone by and that our senior project has come to an end. I had so much fun spending this time with my friends, and the project went by in a flash. After looking back on all the experiences we had and all that we accomplished, I am so happy and proud of how we executed everything. I feel like I tried so many restaurants/places that I never would have thought to eat at had I never done this project. I now feel more inclined to try new places way more often, because this experience opened my eyes to how many affordable, amazing food options there are of all different types in the Portland area. However, I think the cooking aspect of our project was what made this such a learning experience. We cooked such a wide variety of things in such a short amount of time, and I learned so many new things about how to handle myself in a kitchen. I also thought it was pretty cool how much we improved throughout the process, as we started off making basic things that tasted pretty average yet by the end I genuinely was surprised by how great our last few meals tasted. So, in terms of my original goals for this project, I'd say we did a pretty great job of exploring the food scene in Portland while simultaneously taking huge strides as cooks.

One other thing that I wanted to mention in this reflection post is just how special this time really was. I know that this has been a crazy year and that everything social (including senior projects) was completely different from normal. This project proved to me how food can bring people together, and create memories that last. I essentially missed all but a month of my senior year, so getting together to eat or cook with some of my best friends for four weeks straight was something that I will never take for granted. We were able to have a bunch of great conversations and we all became even closer than we were before, and if there is one thing that I will remember about this project it will be the way that my friendships were strengthened throughout it.
